Introducing Ella

The overall suite of programmes are all based on the common framework of European Learning & Leadership Award (ELLA). The 12 point framework is applied and adapted appropriately to each version. The ELLA Programmes incorporate various forms of certification through the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). These are in turn recognised  by Fetac and placed on the National Framework of Qualifications at either Level 5 or Level 6. The ELLA certification may also be used to obtain a Europass Certificate.

Set out below are the courses in the ELLA suite, together with the certification levels.

Junior ELLA: Aimed at student and youth groups. This four-day programme will provide a solid foundation in leadership skills and will be appropriate for young leaders in any context (school, sporting, community, student leadership, transition year etc.)  – ILM Award in Leadership. Level 3 equates with Fetac Level 5.

Workplace ELLA (Uncertified) :  Offered as a customised three / four day front line management / leader programme. Typically offered in-house and in conjunction with identified organizational training needs.

Workplace ELLA (Certified): Four day leadership programme. ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership. Recognised by Fetac at NQF Level 5. Typically offered in-house or as part of an agency offering (e.g. City and County Enterprise Boards, Skillnets, Local Partnerships etc.). Customised versions may be designed around the core framework.

Standard ELLA: Twelve Day Programme. Includes ILM Level 4 Award in Leadership (Recognised at Fetac Level 6) AND ILM Endorsed Award “Competent Trainer (Ireland)”. Approved for Registration on the National Register of Trainers. This programme is ideally suited to job-seekers or people with substantial working experience who wish to retrain for new or different careers. Typically conducted two days a week over 6 weeks.

ELLA Trainer: Five Days. ILM Endorsed Award “Competent Trainer (Ireland)”. Approved for Registration on the National Register of Trainers. With additional project work will also include Level 4 ILM Award in Leadership (Level 6 on NQF). This programme will be advised for those who will train others in ELLA Junior, Workplace or Standard. Participants are likely to be existing trainers, educators, coaches, business advisors, counsellors or consultants.

ELLA Executive: Three or four days. Aimed at Owner / Managers (SME’s). May include ILM Leadership Award Level 4 (Level 6 on NQF). Primarily aimed at SME Owner / Managers who require intense and practical enhancement of their leadership skills.
